About the Pothos
Pothos is the plant most people can't kill. It trails or climbs, adapts to almost any light, and bounces back from neglect — the ideal first houseplant.
Light
Tolerates low light but grows fastest and keeps its variegation in bright, indirect light. Solid-green varieties handle shade best.
Watering
Let the soil dry out almost completely between waterings. Pothos far prefers being too dry to too wet; drooping leaves perk up quickly after a drink.
Propagation
Snip a vine below a node, drop it in water, and roots appear within a week or two. One of the easiest plants to propagate.
Common problems
Yellow leaves
Most often overwatering. Let it dry out more and ensure the pot drains.
Leggy vines
Too little light. Move it brighter and prune to encourage bushier growth.
Fading variegation
Needs more light to keep the white or yellow markings.
